Two New Baltimore teens are taking action to improve the city’s only skate park.
Located in Maynard “Red” Aurand Memorial Park the facility has welcomed skateboarders since 2007. However, those who are avid users of the $22,000park want to see more than just a handrail, which is difficult for beginners to utilize.
In addition to the skateboarding focus, Macomb Township-based School of Rock will have students performing at the event and Church of the Woods of Chesterfield has donated popcorn and cotton candy. Part of the schedule for the Sept. 28 fundraiser will target beginner skaters. Miller said there will likely be a demonstration by some semi-professional skaters followed by a skateboarding competition of up to 15 local people. Landslide Skate Park and TGM Skateboards will be donating for raffle prizes.
